Light Sensor Activities
-
Activity 1 – Students measure how light intensity changes with distance and compare real data to linear, rational, power, and exponential models in Desmos.
-
Activity 2 – Students investigate how a digital image is formed by sampling light-intensity values across a 5x7 pixel grid and analyzing the data using mean, median, minimum, maximum, and range.
-
Activity 3 – Students treat an image as data by sampling RGB pixel values, creating histograms, and analyzing center, spread, skew (red-shift and blue-shift), and kurtosis.
